And in this corner, the New York Times sneers at the peasants who think they have a right to know that their government is spying on them.
Mitigating factor, NYT: Self-awareness of public editor.
Exacerbating factor, NYT: Grotesque history of war-mongering.
Winner: None.
Loser: You.
Sullivan has been the only Times public editor in the history of the position to be worth a damn, and even she has done, and only can do, so much.
