Contrary to rumors on the local net, Greensboro Urban Ministry continues to serve lunch every day and distribute food to families.
"We have not stopped any programs," says Val Marshall, GUM's Food Bank offfice manager. "We're able to meet the needs, and we're pleased to do it." She said 14,260 lunches were served in July.
But supplies are low. A software glitch that kept some food stamp recipients from receiving aid this summer added to demand, and, also, there's a depression on.
Donation details here. I'll match the first $100 pledged here.
I just donated $25 to Urban Ministry.
I know that its just a tiny drop in the scheme of things, but hopefully more will follow. Thanks, Ed, for reminding me that while my life is good, many of my local citizens are still struggling.

UM makes it so easy these days to have a food drive. The Community Swimming Association collected over 800 pounds this year during City Meet. Of course $$$$ is good too :)
