"The incorrect numbers in the report can largely be attributed to errors in the way we populate data in our automated police reports,” explained Chief of Police Ken Miller. “Specifically, we are improperly linking a victim with a crime, and it appears to be occurring where multiple people are victims of different crimes within one incident.” In most instances, this resulted in over-reporting the number of victims of violent crimes." -Ken Miller

Does anyone know exactly what that means other than, "We screwed up."

They might have described it as "just a computer glitch".

I been in Law Enforcement a long time, there is no error when numbers are low, its call fixing the books for the public.
