Thanks for doing this, Ed. This place is an important source of local news for me. It's one of my daily morning stops.

Dan

What he said. I already lament the loss of 101.1 inordinately.

Sean

wow, some friend.

glad you're staying around. a local focus is definitely appreciated, and i have to say i'm looking forward to less links and more fleshed out opinions to kick off discussions. hopefully that'll keep you from having to dive so much into the comment fray and spend more time writing that damn book.

congrats on ten, ed.

Congratulations, Ed. I still remember your early enthusiasm for blogging which people may not appreciate that, at the time, was a radical and exciting concept: that people can publish their own material directly to the internet with no intervention. You saw the power of that before most. I certainly didn't appreciate the significance, until you showed me, us.

Thanks for what you do. Your blog has been a lot of things along the way, but I too miss the more developed posts where you delved into things a little deeper, but I might be in the minority.

Thanks for the time and effort and for sharing your talent. I certainly owe a debt of gratitude for the things I have learned here over the years.

Like Thomas, Word Up has been among my favorite stopping points in the seven years I've been reading.

What Dan said.

I'm not a member of your commenting coterie, but I do read your blog every day and it has added to my information on local issues and events. I can't tell you how glad I am that you'll still be there tomorrow.

Congrats on the new job, Ed. I'm glad you didn't follow through on your original plan to kill Word Up.

Dave Ribar

Congratulations on 10 years.

Just don't go getting all Andy Rooney-curmudgeonly on us, now that you have achieved superannuation. Also, your dog pictures are much nicer than most of the captioned onez.

Ed, Happy Birthday!
Thank you for all you have done and will continue to do that furthers intelligent examination of the issues of the day.
I hear you've got a book to write, but I wish you had a newspaper to run. But I think you're doing more good here - if only the two could merge.
Many thanks for this and more,

Jeff Arthurs

Ed, I'm also a daily reader who rarely comments (a handful of times in the past 5 years). I rely on this blog to keep abreast of events in the "green city" and encourage you to keep on doing what you do. Thanks for your contribution to the quality of our virtual community.

Another frequent reader/rare poster who appreciates the effort!
