What an asshole.

dumb for wasting a perfectly good laptop? sure. potentially responsible for spawning his child's behavior based on his own public display of "can't control myself?" possibly. asshole? i don't know about that. i can't even imagine what i'd do if my (imaginary) child disrespected my in similar fashion.

An imaginary parenting book might counsel you to imagine not modeling the behavior you wish to discourage in your imaginary child.

Disclaimer: I'm not in their house. Maybe this guy never indicated to his kid through his own actions that big dramatic public displays are the way to go. Maybe this was a well-thought-out reaction that deliberately mirrored her behavior, rather than the other way around. Or, maybe not.

If she gets that job he's talking about and buys a bigger gun than he has, she will have learned what he is teaching. He thinks he is taking his turn, but it is not his turn to do anything but be a parent. Would he have shot the family dog if she hadn't cleaned up the poop from the back yard? Three months of grounding just adds sheriffing to his cowboy complex. Three months of communication through counselling would have been better, but obviously isn't happening.

I'm leaving for Tucson for two weeks, so if you dislike what I've said, save your typing. I'm offline till end of month.

They wouldn't like you in Albemarle or Stanly County or wherever:

“The police by the way said ‘Kudos, sir,’ ” Jordan wrote. "I actually had a "thank you" from an entire detectives squad. And another police officer is using it in a positive manner in his presentation for the school system. How’s about those apples? Didn’t expect THAT when you called the cops did you?”

And more:

In the Saturday Facebook post, Jordan said he does not regret making the video and stands by his decision to post it.

Jordan's post also said if he had to do it again he would, "Not be smoking a cigarette ... not have used the word "ass" in my comment directed at my daughter ... would have worn my Silverbelly Stetson, not my Tilley hat if I'd known that image was going to follow me the rest of my life and I'd probably have cleaned my boots."

This country is freaking crazy...

According to the artical above, Jordan's daughter hasnt been living with Jordan that long. Think she's ready to move back to her mother's?

What a waste of ammunition. A hammer would have accomplished the same dramatic effect. He should have saved the bullets for a burglar or a coyote.

An imaginary parenting book ... Ed Cone

One isn't needed.

There is a broader based body of work available called psychology - in that body of work this event would be labeled as dysfunctional.

I ran into such work as a result of my alcohol rehab 2 decades ago. Part of the reason I landed there was two dysfunctional parents due, in part, to practicing alcoholism.

It's likely the whole family needs rehab. It's also likely it won't happen because they won't seek help of that sort - which is also dysfunctional behavior.

Freedom to be dysfunctional goes with the territory.
