I enjoyed reading Ragtime, which made me want to watch the movie version, which Netflix still has only on disk, which suddenly feels like having it only on stone tablets delivered by Pony Express.

I enjoyed the book when I read it way back in the dark of history. I also enjoyed the movie as well, particularly Elizabeth McGovern's long topless scene.

There's a lot in the book (including the Nesbit storyline) that would seem to make for good film material, but I can't see how a movie can capture the humor embedded in Doctorow's telling of the story. I guess I'll see in a couple of days.

Randy Newman's score is pretty nice.
