What a damn shame. The Fayetteville Museum of Art was a real gem and source of pride. In the late 1970s, when its building was still new on a wooded suburban site, the museum hosted a fabulous Juan Miro exhibition. I was on the features staff at the time and my editor, Nancy Pate, lobbied successfully to have the opening story and color photo on the front page of The Fayetteville Times (RIP). Now these headlines. Pity.

When I think of art in North Carolina, Fayetteville always sticks out as a bastion of creativity.

"They hired expensive consultants to study marketing strategies and the potential income a new building would bring, and they commissioned a renowned architectural firm."

there lies the money pit for this place with the quote above.
