Depressing, but thanks for the pointer.

At the end of the piece, Jay Rosen is quoted as asking why these people are on TV in the first place. That's a very good question. The answer, as Aaron Brown said elsewhere in the article, is that it's a cheap way of filling airtime. Network bookers may be young and inexperienced, but network bosses are not. If they wanted known potential conflicts of interest identified on air, I think it would happen.
