I first read A People's History as a senior in HS. It changed the trajectory of my life. I withdrew from the 3-2 engineering program at Washington University and enrolled at a liberal arts college in the midwest instead. i majored in history and philosophy and I believe that my life has been the richer for it. I mourn Zinn's passing and plan to read A People's History to my son in the hopes that he will be inspired by his nations past.

Yeah, it was a radical notion that the history of a democracy should not be written for and about (the functional equivalent of) aristocrats. Dangerous. Lock him up.
