Great article in the N&R today, and I compliment Hovrath's efforts. Following Katrina, and our nation's response to it, it occurred to me that most societies might functionally ignore certain segments of their populations because they acknowledge that their governance models can not meet the needs of all citizens.

In theory, the perfect model would, and we have yet to design that permit model. An examination of the various Utopian experiments, particularly those in the vicinity of Chicago following the Great Fire, highlight the lack of success in that regard.

Unfortunately, the labels applied to, and the treatment of, those at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder reflect a disdain or an indifference, and lack of responsibility, on society's part.

So now you don't like labels?

Roch, you seem to have confused two different comments, Roger Greene and Reggie Greene.

Indeed I have. Thanks for taking the time to point that out, Ed. My apologies to Mr. Greene, The Logistician.

No problem, Roch101. I've done the same on occasion myself.
