I had the good fortune to grow up with Martin. He wasn't a big guy but anyone who went up against him in basketball or wrestling found themselves with a task similar to trying to sandpaper a mountainlion's ass in a phonebooth. He and his brother, Marshall, were gracious hosts to all the neighborhood kids and occasionally he let one of us win in chess. This guy and his family were class acts. He never sought office or attention. It shames me that he is mentioned in an event such as this.
Was this a hint from someone to quit helping people ?
