I don't know if this was mentioned in any of the links (just glanced over them), but there is now a testing machine being used by NASCAR teams that has four pylon supports on top of which each wheel of a car rests (car being placed on top of the machine). Then the name of a specific track is entered into a computer and each of the pylons simulates the bumps, dips, and other stresses associated with that track at the speed at which the car would be travelling. Lots of violent jerks and shocks. I saw it on television and was amazed by how innovative the technology was.
