I think Krugman means that Edwards revived the "Socialist" wing of the Democratic Party. Pretty sure that is what he meant. I guess that means all Democrats are Socialists?

The "sophisticated economic populist" meme turns out to actually be wrong on every description, except in the minds of a few folks who still realize he exists. Edwards and his campaign have only themselves to blame for that, based on errors and misjudgments great and small that have been committed.

Iowa was a defeat, NH was a defeat. He is now alienating whateve as damaged goods, and no longer considered a major influence in this campaign.

ACB: Krugman didn't use the Democratic Wing thing, I did.

Bubba, Edwards' influence on the larger campaign is clear in the tone and message of other candidates, even as his own effort seems moribund.

Socialist wing? Jeebus Ed, I didn't realize you had a Speed Limbaugh crowd hanging out here. Socialist, that's funny. I guess that would make you guys....fascists?

And, for Bubba, since you appear to be a Republican, who would give a flying leap what your opinion is on our candidates? Of course, since your candidates are a joke, I guess I can see why you pay so much attention to the minutae of the Democratic Campaigns. It would make my head spin to keep track of Romney's flip-flops, McCain's pandering, Thompson's naps, and Huckabee's "Golly-Gee Beaver" speeches.

"Socialism" often is used in tendentious and sloppy ways, as is "fascism."

It's interesting to see that fascism, once used most often in its tendentious and sloppy forms by glib lefties, has gained such currency on the right.

Gosh, Ed......where's the lecture to this stellar citizen?

Bubba

I'm still waiting.........

RP, please be gentle with Bob.

Bob, if RP demonstrates over the course of a couple of years and hundreds of comments that he is unable to participate in fairly standard blogger give-and-take without combusting, I will take appropriate measures.
