How bad is the crime problem in Greensboro?
Our murder rate for 2007 approached record levels. The victims were not just soldiers in street wars (not that such killings are acceptable, either). We hear a lot about gang activity. A woman is killed in her home in an upscale neighborhood, although we still don't know the circumstances. Street crime and robberies abound (see one report after the jump). Our cops are stretched thin. City and community leaders are looking for answers.
Is there an element of media hype and/or overreaction to the perception that things are really bad around here? Or are things really bad around here?
