The N&R article didn't make sense to begin with. At the beginning as well as end of the article it sounds like o-joy-all-is-well because the Haw River pond can be used to fill GSO's reservoirs this winter.

But buried deep within the copy is the fact that in order to draw from this source it has to be running at 14 million gallons, and right now its flow is "far less than 14 million." Not to worry says our water csar because "normal" winter rains will replenish the flow.

The problem is that all the long-term weather forecasts are for a continuation of the exceptionally dry weather we've had this summer. Had this factor been taken into account, I think the N&R would have published a very different story.
