Another Philadelphian coming to ConvergeSouth is Wendy Warren, an editor at the Philadelphia Daily News.
What's the deal with Philly?
Having both the city's big papers up for sale helped focus a lot of smart folks in that area on the future of journalism, and the role of the web in that future. An email discussion group evolved around the idea of norgs, or news organizations that could thrive in this new hybridized world of print and electronic media. Some local folks, including Lex and me, joined in, along with big thinkers around the country...
...and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to share in some of the accrued wisdom in Greensboro.
Converge Liberals.! I think I'd be more comfortable at Carolina Freedom Net. Yes ! And come awy better and more truthfully informed. I read enuff of the leftist doma in the N & R.

Thanks for your positive feedback and near-coherence, Fred.

Fred, the two events are not mutually exclusive, or intended to be competing. They have different subject matter and speakers. Our FreedomNet location was picked because of travel considerations for potential attendees from the western regions of NC, not because ConvergeSouth is in Greensboro. And the proximity of the dates occurred because of a scheduling conflict regarding the original September date for FreedomNet. It won't be repeated next year.
I know several folks who are attending both events, including members of the JLF staff.
