and the loofa...never forget the loofa

Lex

Actually, Patrick, I'd spent most of the last two years trying to forget the loofa ....

My completely apolitical question regarding the O'reilly transcripts:

Is there any man on the planet who thinks he's going to get anywhere with any woman by calling her breasts "boobs?"

Patrick Eakes

It's all in how you say it, Joe. My wife is nursing our newborn son, and I get away with calling her the Milk Truck.

Mr. Sun

Hi Patrick. Hey, stop and get some munchies and videos before you come to crash at my place for a while, okay?

Joe Killian

Well, yes.

Once you've established a repore with a woman - dating, living together, sharing intimacies that don't make her shiver with disgust, tape you and embarass you in a lawsuit you have to settle to keep the whole thing from sinking you like the Titanic - you can get away with all sorts of things. They may even think it's charming.

But when you're trying to seduce a woman(and I realize we must, in light of the transcript, use this term very broadly here) -- is this really the path of least resistance?

sean coon

heh... joe said "boobs"

Jim Caserta

Ed has a great post about immigration and all we can talk about are boobs.

O'Reilly needs to be careful. If you go to Ellis Island, they have a large display of anti-immigrant throughout the ages. A lot of anti-Chinese, and a lot of anti-Irish and Italian, which in almost every case has an anti-Catholic theme. A lot of it was that the new Catholic immigrants would be more loyal to the Pope than the President. Some people say they want a Christian nation, but what they reall mean is Protestant, or whatever denomination they are. I've even heard someone refer to Christians and Catholics as two mutually exclusive groups!

In the past, though cooler heads prevailed:

The Republican platform of 1864 stated, "Foreign immigration which in the past has added so much to the wealth, resources, and increase of power to the nation … should be fostered and encouraged."

Bubba

"The Republican platform of 1864 stated, 'Foreign immigration which in the past has added so much to the wealth, resources, and increase of power to the nation … should be fostered and encouraged.'"

And so it was-- in the late 19th and early 20th centuries., giving us the fabled American Melting Pot.

That was then--this is now. there is no more American Melting Pot in this day and age. Our New Age culture and political correctness will not allow it.
