Joel asks,"What about a Greensboro or Guilford County Wikipedia, with articles like in any encyclopedia being devoted to a range of subjects – history, architecture, geography, arts, biography, flora, fauna, business, commerce, local writers and literature education, etc.?"
Great idea -- could be done in parts as school projects, and/or coordinated by the Historical Museum and/or the Bicentennial commission...
Of course there would be some touchy subjects, as the Truth and Rec project shows...but it would be doable and really quite a nice present to ourselves for GSO's 200th birthday.
Will Jimbo give us access to the platform? Is it OS enough that we can just use it? I can probably figure out a way to host it unless Jimmy's servers host local projects. I'd like us to do it prior to a corporate entity doing it. Roll the ball, Ed.

Why recreate the wheel? Go to WikiPedia and start typing away. Unless i'm missing something, creating another monkey for someone to care and feed doesn't seem to make sense in this case. Furthermore, setting an example on WikiPedia is good press for Gboro too.

Either way works for me. I would like to leave a comment on Joel's blog and tell him how I like his idea but for the life of me I can't seem to log in.
