Things are better thanks to multi-family making up about 25-30% of new construction. Usually is about 10%. Bear in mind an apartment unit uses about a third of the material for a single family home.
The wild card is forclosures putting more cheap inventory on the market.
Home Depot is enjoying the DIY's doing renovation and repair.
