N&R editorial page is doing serious good work with its ongoing series on local judicial races.
It would be useful to collect them all at one link. UPDATE: Done.
Also, I hope they post Doug Clark's excellent column about the buffoonish ad for Newby's Supreme Court campaign -- it deserves state-wide readership.

I have heard from the left that if Newby stays on the court the right wing tilt will get even worse.
I have from some good lawyers that Ervin is too political and just not a good legal mind.
Not sure where to go on this one.

I've met Newby several times and he is a mild mannered, rational gent who seems to make a good judge. I know they are very afraid of the Ervin legacy and that probably explains a lot of the effort to get publicity for name recognition.
