Good to see one of my favorite provocateurs getting some press, and surely email hell is real, but while I acknowledge being old and stuck in my ways I also think email has real advantages and, also, I have no interest in living my whole life in public, er, social spaces.
And: Kids, lawn, off.

Ah, well. To each his own. For me, messges are messages, no matter how packaged. I'm not sure how abandoning email for an equal number of messages spread out over other platforms is much of a difference.
An eon or so ago, I got about 300 emails a day at work. So did most everyone else. Someone sold us on the idea of using IM to reduce time spent on email. So, the number of emails we got went down, but we all started getting dozens of annoying IM popups every day, all day long. We decided IM creates the expectation of an immediate response & puts the sender in control. Email, especially if approached without guilt and fear, puts the recipient in control. We killed IM and went back to all email, all the time.
