Decent people can have conflicts of interests.

Far from sharing your optimism, it sounds to me form the article that the deck is stacked.

The deck is stacked, Roch. And I'm sure Ray is a decent guy. But the fact remains, the seat he's taking up on the Commission is supposed to be filled by someone who is a "member of a nongovernmental conservation interest."

North Carolina has regional and state members of the Sierra Club, NC Conservation Network, CWFNC, Environment NC, Nature Conservancy, League of Conservation Voters, etc.

But instead of picking someone from a (true) conservation interest, the Republican leadership picks the head of a consortium whose financial gain from fracking won't occur until royalties from drilling start to roll in.
