I heard on the radio they met last year for similar reasons. Maybe every year? Maybe that is part of their job?
Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. Even better ... Can't wait to hear how this is somehow UNC and/or Duke's fault!

Anyone else think it's time for John Swofford to exit stage left? He's overseen two expansions and has botched both. Football went from very meh to just OK after the addition of BC, VA Tech, and Miami, the last of which may be an afterthought after the NCAA is done with them. The basketball has gone way, way south. During the latest round of conference realignment, which is motivated by football and the BCS, he asked two basketball schools to join the league. Now, it looks like the Old Guard, good ole boys at Clemson are looking for "payback" for what Swofford did to that program in the early 80s, when he was the AD at UNC.
I'm still puzzled as to why the ACC didn't even give WVU the time of day when they applied to join the conference a few months ago. Are the academics really THAT bad in Morgantown? I've visited there several times. There really is a school there with students who attend classes and study, and the social environment was actually a lot more tame compared to what I've experienced in Chapel Hill and C'ville. You also would've added a natural rival to VA Tech and UVa and a school with a quality football AND basketball program. Don't discount the fact that their fanbase travels well.

prell - You're probably correct about WVU, but I'd have a hard time seeing Huggy Bear on my TV more often.
