From my POV the big news on the Edwards trial is that a northbound lane of Eugene Street by the Preyer building is now a parking lot for "news" vehicles, making it that much harder for me to return to the bosom of my family each evening.
Ginia Zenke was kind enough to send along some photos of the scene around the courthouse. I posted this one because of her caption for it: "Probably two different messages being broadcast here."

"news"?

uh oh... looks like you stirred up stew.

I thinks it's "news" when they are in your way. Otherwise, it's news.

I walk through there every day. Mostly camera crews and tech people hanging out waiting for something to happen. It's kind of like Occupy Market Street without the smell and juvenile chants. I imagine quite a bit of camaraderie is built up during such things and I suspect when it's over, some of them will miss it.
I'm surprised the jury is still out. That usually indicates a guilty verdict or hung jury.
I think the Breck Girl might be getting a little nervous.

Who is the Breck Girl?

Not stirred up, particularly. Just amused when bloggers (of which I proudly am one) look down at the mainstream media. I happily straddle both worlds and sleep very well at night. As for Occupy Market Street (we call it 'Camp Edwards' or, lately, 'The Seventh Circle of Hell') there's not a lot of amazing journalism going on down there, just hardworking news crews feeding their machines, trading kick-ass war stories and frequenting local taverns. If that's something to be ashamed of, I must have missed the memo. As for camaraderie, it is indeed thick. Six weeks of riding a stepladder in every kind of weather conditions will do that. Even so, no one's more anxious to see this thing end than me or my fifty seven new best friends. Oh, and Spag, if you walk through every day, stop and say hello. I'll introduce you to all the vultures, including some cable TV stalwarts you'd never expect to see idling in downtown Greensboro. So come and take the tour! Lots of local folk who pretend not to be interested in the trial already have.

A joke explained is not much of a joke, but, see, for days there has been no news, just vehicles. See, funny!

I'm guessing Breck Girl = John Edwards.
At least we never saw Edwards lick his comb.

I heard a news reader on the radio this morning say, "Still no verdict in the trial of John Edwards. More in a minute."
"More"???
Reminded me of "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead!".

Let me know where to find you, Lenslinger. I'm guessing this may be over before I get the chance. Holiday is coming up; jury wants to be done with it. But I'll be around tomorrow if they don't come back before then.

"It's kind of like Occupy Market Street without the smell and juvenile chants."
That's right. It's annoying when someone makes a gratuitous and juvenile comment.

You're right, Andrew. "Occupy" is a group of clean cut adults who should be admired for their law abiding ways.
You go right ahead and stand with them.
