I've seen less-flattering thumbnail travelogues about GSO than Kim Severson's waiting-on-a-verdict placeholder.
And I'd agree that local interest in the John Edwards trial seems muted -- most North Carolinians came to their own conclusions about the man long ago, leaving the field to trial junkies and students of campaign-finance law.
Locals who got upset when Andrea Peyser called our town "derelict" last week must not be familiar with Peyser's highly ignorable schtick.
UPDATE: Seriously, Greensboro, Peyser is not worth your ire.

I've heard a couple "What They're Saying" radio reports about whether or not folks think Edwards should/will be convicted. Most of those who want him convicted seem to think he's on trial for adultery.

"Judge Eagles is a mix between a hip Aunt Bee and an austere schoolmarm."
Somehow, that struck me as vaguely insulting, not that Catherine Eagles cares what anyone--least of all the media--might think of her "style". If the writer meant that Catherine takes her job seriously and cares more about getting work done than playing to the cameras, then sure, that's the Judge Eagles I remember from her state court days. She is smart, serious, fair and not without a sense of humor--and I think she should get points for putting up with Bill.

I think she'd laugh at that description. She and Bill sent two kids to my alma mater, so good on them.

Let's just compare Judge Eagles to Judge Ito. 'Nuff said?

Glad to know she's keeping the circus to a minimum.
Aside: Mother thinks Bunny needs to stick to building churches. (Upperville, VA)
