Sources who tell me they are themselves well-sourced say the demise of the ACC could be imminent, with FSU and Clemson jumping to the Big 12 and the whole thing then disappearing in short order as the SEC and Big 10 gobble up the remains.
We'll see.

Seems a tad far fetched but money talks.

It was fun while it lasted. Greensboro couldn't afford to build or upfit the Coliseum to support a larger basketball tournament, so it seems fitting that we pull the plug (on one or the other).

I thought the conference implemented a new $20 million departure fee.
Not sure of the effective date, but that would seem to be a steep hurdle for even the likes of FSU or Clemson to handle.

are we talking acc football or basketball? what about the syracuse and pitt move?

About that Hall of Fame thing....

Sean it is being driven by the new football playoff system. The Big 12 and SEC have aligned to have their champions play in a bowl such as Pac 10-Big 10 in Rose Bowl and so teams like FSU and Clemson are feeling left out in the football world because of the relative weakness of the ACC.
I could see the ACC losing FSU and Va Tech and maybe Clemson. ACC football is boring in my opinion and so I would not mind seeing the conference return to its basketball roots.

This is where I first heard about it last week.

I hear Pitt is looking to jump from the ACC even before landing here.

If the ACC only had an elite football program like an FSU...er, never mind
Good luck with UT and OU

mo' money, mo' problems.

Weren't these rumors debunked last week? They're bluffing. Even if they weren't, what have those two schools done for the ACC lately? Yeah, FSU won the ACC Basketball Championship - cool story; no one cares about that tournament anymore. Clemson? 70-33 v. WVU in the Orange Bowl. We'll miss you and good luck playing them in the new Big 12. I gamble often and way too much, but I'll bet the house that this never happens. Ever.
