"We have so much time, and so little to do. Wait! Stop! Reverse that."

eric

Cause, effect, whatever.

David Wharton

Twice in one day, your 70's are showing, Ed.

Abner Doon

Agreed, but it doesn't make it right to charge everyone else
to pay for a premium for those who own the properties around the landfill
to cash out at everyone else's long term expense.

I believe this is not a racial issue.

The mistake was closing the landfill in the first place.

Look at how much it has cost so far,
and how much it may cost in the future,
if Andrew's monetary dreams are made into reality.

Think the city's revenues are going to rise this fiscal year?

Think they may fall?

What are the assumptions in the budget?

Growth or contraction?

If Guilford County is a financial basket case
and the Federal gov as well,
as crime spikes,
we are setting ourselves up for significant tax increases
which could limit job growth relatively to a lower taxed
lower indebted community looking to import jobs.

Abner Doon

Andrew and Ed,

if race had nothing to do with it,
and the price of gas tripled since,
which it has,
what would you do
if you knew we were headed into what may be
some very serious economic decline?

David Hoggard

I realize this question was not directed at me; but personally, I would re-evaluate my relationship with the return key as a start.

Andrew Brod

"Andrew's monetary dreams"? Race having nothing to do with the price of gasoline tripling?

All I did was respond to the Willy Wonka allusion.

Abner Doon

"Andrew's monetary dreams"

is a little bit funny...

Abner Doon

"The Laffer Curve, anyone know what this says?

It says that at this point on the revenue curve,
you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point…

Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980, anyone?

Something-d-o-o economics, voodoo economics."

"Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?"

Brian Clarey

Got to be careful the way you stack those clauses. I'm sure it was an honest mistake. Why would a newspaper want to be deliberately misleading?

newk

And here I thought the rewrite was due to the original version using the word "because" twice in one sentence.
