You want shared sacrifice? Let’s start with market regulators forcing the largest banks to fess up to their pent-up losses and come clean with their books, so we can get their red ink behind us as quickly as possible and create a new baseline for sustainable growth.

I find myself hoping Mother Nature will do to Wall St this weekend what Obama and the gutless SEC won't. Misdirected and too-literal, sure. But damn.

Very nice piece. The people whose greed and lack of smarts got us in this mess ought to be the first ones asked to pay for it.
One useful result, though, is that people might have less goggled-eyed confidence in bankers and such. I mean, for example, BofA thinking Countrywide was a smart buy?
