If he doesn't starve, first.

I'd support him if I was in his district. Rakestraw must go.

"I'd support him if I was in his district.":
Help him get food stamps, and a grant from Jim Melvin and Business As Usual, Inc.

Keith, I will assume from your comment that you do not know Tony. I have served with Tony in civic leadership positions, and he thoughtful, smart, and independent.

"I have served with Tony in civic leadership positions, and he thoughtful, smart, and independent."
So he's a top notch TREBIC cartel crony capitalist instead of a run of the mill TREBIC cartel crony capitalist?
How reassuring.

I have known, and sometimes worked with, Tony for many years. Tony has always been one of the most honest, straight-forward, level-headed people I know.

His candidacy has conflict of interest written all over it... But then so does the entire council.

"Fortunatewy, Bubba wivs in D3 and cannot vote for Mawy Wakestwaw."
Fortunately, no one (including yourself) takes you seriously anymore.

Billy, what's the conflict?
Posted by: Thomas | Jul 01, 2011 at 11:15 AM
"To have something like that in your front yard when you live in any neighborhood, any neighborhood should not have to deal with that." Mary Rakestraw on AT&T Cable Boxes in one of her constituent's yards.
HOW INDIGNANT! This demands a full city council hearing!
Hard to believe the same councilmember has voted several times to re-open a dump in someone else's neighborhood with little public debate. I bet the residents near White Street will gladly trade Rakestraw the landfill for her cable boxes.

His conflict is his business.

I don't think it is impossible for contractors to serve on the City Council or on boards or commissions. I DO believe that the council and boards should not be made up entirely of developers but I don't think that is the case here. Also, what is the difference between a developer and a contractor?
I served on the Zoning Commission with Tony and found him to be honest and thoughtful. He is a asset for Greensboro and would serve Council well.

The difference between a developer and a contractor, Janet, is simple.
The former plans the work and the latter actually does the work.
I don't know that I would know Collins if he where to slap me upside the head, but to dismiss his candidacy simply because he is in the construction industry is pretty shallow.
Full disclosure: I am a contractor.
