the world celebrates Bastille more than any other day because it was a French killing French day which set off a horribly bloody episode of French killing more French. But they have the current guerre de la tete for different reasons. Few of their national heros are from France. Charlemagne was from Austria or Belgium, Napoleon was Corsican, deGaulle was Alsacian and the croissant was from Budapest.
