N&R editorial on the planned use of a developer's plane to ferry public officials to DC comes down on the right side of the issue, and gives some credit to online voices for raising the alarm in the first place...
...but it understates Roy Carroll's involvement in city politics, ignoring his key role in the ongoing debate about downtown development guidelines and his stake in any future projects, including (as Cyndy Hayworth points out here) his potential role in the redevelopment of Guilford County Schools property that would be freed up under the plan the DC trip was to promote.
Again, I don't doubt the good intentions of all involved. But it says something about this town that nobody in power thought twice about the cozy arrangement until people started yelling about it on the interwebs.
