Kay Hagan was waiting in a private room behind a big lobby at the Greensboro Coliseum. The networks, one by one, had declared her the winner of the North Carolina Senate race.
An aide sat at a table with four mobile phones in front of him, and the congratulatory calls kept coming -- from Jim Hunt, Mark Warner, Hillary Clinton, and Chuck Schumer. But Liddy Dole was not calling. Liddy was on TV saying she would not concede.
Finally, at about 9:40, Dole called to concede, and Kay Hagan went out to meet the crowd as North Carolina's Senator-elect.

Oh, and I had Brunswick Stew at Stamey's for dinner.
