Uphill climb for Hagan, but far from impossible. If the NC Dems can easily make the case that Dole=GWB, then Kay can make hay in those large counties that Obama rode to victory Tuesday.

Spag

Wait- it's okay to make the case that Dole=GWB, but trying to make the case that Hagan=Obama is racist?

Britt Whitmire

I think you are thinking of Bev Perdue=Obama (which is what the state GOP wanted you to believe), but, like you, Sam, I think all white women look alike anyway.

spag

Yeah. You got me. Same thing, different white lady.

Dave Dobson

I realize you're just snarking, Sam, but obviously, Dole has a long record of voting for and enabling President Bush's policies, while nobody, particularly a candidate for governor of NC, has a long record of voting for President Obama's policies.

If you want a true parallel, pick some crazy white preacher dude with connections to conservatives, and then try to link Dole to that person indirectly through Bush or McCain. And that's not even worrying about the crazy racial thinking part.

spag

I don't know, I think endorsing Obama is the same as approving of his policies. But that's different...it always is. Link Hagan to Obama and that's just the GOP playing the race card, because you know, Obama's black. Put his picture in an ad and you are playing the race card by reminding all the racists that he is black.

Meanwhile, linking Dole to Bush is all about policy. But you can't link a local Democrat to Obama policy-wise because he's black and as soon as you show his picture in an ad- wa la! Race baiting!

I HAVE NOT BEEN IMPRESSED WITH DOLE AT ALL TO THE POINT THAT i VOTED FOR PETE DI LAURO AS A PROTEST VOTE. COULD SHE PLEASE BUY A HOUSE IN NC INSTEAD OF INHERITING ONE.

Dave Dobson

You'd have a point, if you weren't pretending that the Wright ad mentioned any Obama policy at all, and that it mentioned Hagan at all, neither of which it did.

spag

I can see what is coming down the pike.

Dave Dobson

Well, you can hardly complain sarcastically that it's never the same when it's demonstrably not.

If Hagan endorses Obama, then it's fine to use Obama's policies in an ad against Hagan, the same way it's fine to use Bush's policies that Liddy voted for in an ad against Liddy.

There's a world of difference between that and applying some bizzaro transitive property of lunacy that Hagan's endorsing every chopped up 4-second sound bite you can pull from anything Obama's pastor has ever said.
