Yeah, it is damned annoying.
One of the most annoying aspects of the N&R and its coverage of the e-voting issue was its refusal to come down on the side of fact.
Despite the OVERWHELMING body of evidence on our side of the issue, they insisted on playing stenographer, rather than reporters. Gilbert was allowed to peddle the same lies, distortions and blatant nonsense over and over again without challenge.
Sad, when it is the High Point Enterprise doing the real reporting on the issue.

I don't see it as an issue with an "our side" and a "their side," but as an issue on which the facts and expert opinion have over time accumulated in a way that creates a pretty convincing story about the hazards of electronic voting machines.
In this case, the N&R didn't even do stenography -- they completely ignored the issue. Where were the editors?
That was a piece that needed a note from the boss to the reporter, saying "Nice work. Now go back to Gilbert with one more question."
