Marshall also has been a pioneer in the citizen-journalism field in this respect: When the Bush administration was discussing privatizing Social Security in 2005 and a lot of congresscritters didn't want to be pinned down on the issue, he mobilized his readers nationwide to call their reps and senators to ascertain who was where on the issue and report back the responses they received.
