Who decided it was a good idea for children to dress as pimps for Halloween?

A cane-wielding floppy-hatted green-velour-clad child showed up at my door last night, right between the kitty cat and the witches.

What does it say about attitudes toward race and sex for this cherub-cheeked blond boy to be thusly dressed, beyond the fact that I am getting old?
