Both it and the old site also crashes the browser 10% of the time.

Mine too.
I've actually stopped reading Binker because it takes forever to load anything from the N&R site.
Sad, but true.
(Firefox/Windows)

Ed's right. The site is equally bad using a Mac or a PC. With FF the load time is incredibly slow. No script errors with FF & Mac, although FF & Win almost always yields a script error. Win & IE7 just crashes at each attempt to load the site. Mac & Safari was the best combo for me --no errors. Mac & Camino was about the same as FF --spinning beach ball but with the inclusion of a script error.

"Mac & Safari was the best combo for me --no errors"
The layout gets hosed in Mac Safari though - at least in Safari 2.

I'm using Safari 3.0.3. I just tested the site again in another tab --it loaded fast, no errors, and the layout displayed perfectly.

The N&R's project manager responded to similar questions here.
It sounds to me like they launched prematurely.

I feel better; thought I was the only one who had to wait for disapointing coverage of our area. Can these people get anything right? We deserve better in a local paper and I for one would be willing to pay for it.
