--With Elijah home I've now watched all or parts of 300 several times. It's great, in a classic-comix quasi-fascist homoerotic campy propaganda-film way, with lots of details to enjoy (e.g., the battlefield rivals, a nod to Eisenstein's Nevsky, or at least Legolas and Gimli); I get it, we're the Greeks, but when Ephialtes betrays the Spartans amid the decadence of the overstretched empire I couldn't help wondering: are we Persia, too?
--I had to check the date on this morning's NYT book review when I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the front page. At least Christopher Hitchens would bring something deep and fresh to a book the web (not to mention the daily Times) digested weeks ago, I thought. But, not so much.

I'm not sure about all the big words you used but it was a good war movie.
