Heath Shuler: "I strongly believe that for the good of this Institution, for the good of our Nation, and for the good of the people of the (sic) Louisiana’s 2nd District, Mr. Jefferson should resign his seat immediately."

Dang! I think I am liking what Shuler is getting at! Toss all the underhanded dealers in congress.I don't care if they are democans or replibacrates.

I admire Mr. Shuler's strong stand and integrity. But I can't help wondering why he's not putting his butt on the line in similarly calling for the resignation of the president and the attorney general.
I guess a bunch of money in a freezer is more egregious than 3500+ soldiers killed for a bunch of goddamn lies.

Maybe it is because he would have to also go after Clinton for her cover-ups. and it would not look good for him to go after the "darling" of the democrans.

Also; Anglico: I am wondering when you were a member of 2nd Anglico? I was a member from 1969 to 1970.
Posted by: Juan G | Jun 11, 2007 at 07:30 PM
Hi Juan!
Yes, I was assigned to 2nd ANGLICO from 1974 to 1977. I was a LT(jg) in the Navy while stationed there . . . and spent most of my time in Vieques and southern Spain. Of the five years I spent on active duty, it was my favorite tour.
(It was a bit rough being a Squid at LeJeune, but the fact that I was a runner helped me out a lot. It took awhile to switch from track shoes to combat boots, but once I got the hang of it, I was hard to keep up with.)

Anglico: Get a freaking grip.
WWI: Eight Million KIA
WWII: Fifty Million ( including atrocities )
Korean Police Action: Just US 35,000
Vietnam: US and ARVN over 270,000 plus 2 million slaughtered by Communist Khmer Rouge in Camboaia
Every soldier's death is a sad event not only for his or her loved ones but for our nation.
So don't claim the moral high ground. There are many Americans who express full throated disagreement with you cut and runners.

Anglico, good point re G-D lies about Iraq! There are others who also lied or mislead us about Iraq that need to be held accountable. Check it out at Snopes
Posted by: Big Bob | Jun 11, 2007 at 10:13 PM
Vietnam: US and ARVN over 270,000. I suppose you think that was a good idea, too?
Why are you here, Fred? Why aren't you on the ground in Iraq picking sand out of your teeth or shrapnel out of your buddy's face? Send in your comments from a barracks in the Middle East and I'll take your lecture seriously. Otherwise, it's just more chickenhawk bullshit.

Who can imagine that Jefferson and his ilk have the slightest interest in the good of the nation or the people of Louisiana? They will hang on till their clawed fingers are pried from the pulbic trough and dragged away, kicking and screaming.

Big, bad ass Anglico.
Keep running, pal.....

"Why are you here, Fred Bubba? Why aren't you on the ground in Iraq picking sand out of your teeth or shrapnel out of your buddy's face?"
Been there, done that already, circa 1971, little buddy. And my buddies helped pick shrapnel out of my right knee.
How did such an obnoxious snot of an officer like you escape getting fragged?
Or are you just another non-combat big mouth, like so many others?
Posted by: Bubba | Jun 12, 2007 at 04:55 PM
Hey you ..Punk
Been there done that also. I was an enlisted man, as in volunter. Yeah I am talking to you Lt. Junior Grade.
The only salute I think you deserve is the Nelson Rocefeller one . Know what that means , son.

Bubba and Bubba Clone:
Just to be clear, the only person who gets to call me "son," is my Daddy, and he's dead, so keep your condescending crap to yourself.
My father was in Korea the same time you were, Fred, doing the exact same job. He was shot in the back by a North Korean, and later shot himself in the head because of what we now call post-traumatic stress syndrome. I have all his medals pinned on the wall in my office. He retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer, hospital corps. He would have hated this war and all its stateside cheerleaders. Of that I am certain.
Beyond that, all I can say is this: There's a good reason I got out of the Navy after nine years. It was filled with too many ignorant assholes. Too many so-called patriots who would happily send other people's children to die for nothing but lies.
You really want to know why I didn't get fragged Bubba? Because I worked my tail off to help my guys make it through. Even dipshits like you. I cut them out of trees after night jumps. I dragged them out of swamps when we missed the landing zone. I bailed them out of jail. Just what any junior officer would do. It was my job.
So with all due respect, and I mean this sincerely, fuck you. The fact that you served in the Navy years ago has nothing to do with the occupation of Iraq today. It is wrong, you are wrong - and none of your smart-assed comments changes that in the slightest.
Posted by: Anglico | Jun 12, 2007 at 07:38 PM
Just what I thought.....another chicken shit, all talk, no combat action junior officer.
The fact that you don't have a clue is evident in your scumbag attitude, little buddy. Trying to cover that up with an arrogant line.
You've not been on the ground in Iraq, and the evidence from those who have, both military and civilian, puts an end the lies that lowlifes like you perpetrate.
You don't rate the attitude pal, and you don't rate any respect.
And by the way, the next time we want any shit out of you, we'll find you and squeeze your head.
Understood?

Take it somewhere else, guys. Thnx.
Posted by: Ed Cone | Jun 12, 2007 at 09:36 PM
Hey A hole, you asked me why I wasn't picking up my M-16 and shipping off to Iraq. I gave you a respectable , well as much as it deserved, answer . So you resort to F-U. Big man . Perhaps you should consider the advice of Rep. Tom Lantos ( D-Calif ) when addressing Craig Livingstone . Lantos suggested Livinstone take the same out as Admiral Boorda. It could be in the genes. Huh, Lt. J.G., Sir ? Whatta ya think ?

Waste of a bullet, Fred.
Posted by: Bubba | Jun 12, 2007 at 09:54 PM
You guys are mocking a guy whose dad killed himself by joking that he should kill himself too? That's completely reprehensible. You are not even human.

A reader emails:
Fred and Bubba are beyond the pale in the comments here...neither of them will discuss anything, and they've both become increasingly and needlessly obnoxious and cruel in recent weeks.
I know you've got an open door, and I approve of that, but they're trashing the place. If I ever said anything like what they have written here, I'd understand and expect my being tossed out as well.
It's your show, and you can run it how you want, but this sucks.
Yes, it does.

Bubba and Fred put him in his place.
End of story

Thanks for the accurate observation, jc.
Not that it makes any difference to Ed.
Just watch the reply.....
Indeed, end of story.

Just so everyone who reads this thread will know, I have apologized privately to Anglico for the inexcusable personal attack that I made on him in a moment of passion that was provoked by his remarks . At the time I thought he was being abusive and insulting not to mention calling me a coward for avoiding service in our armed forces. I don't, however, yield to anyone on the substance of this debate which will probably continue for years to come.
Posted by: Fred Gregory | Jun 13, 2007 at 10:15 PM
To complete this sad saga, I have apologized to Fred privately as well.
And to Bubba, here and publicly, I also offer my apology.
Peace, out.
Posted by: Anglico | Jun 13, 2007 at 10:28 PM
Thanks for this, Fred.
Posted by: Ed Cone | Jun 13, 2007 at 10:28 PM
Fred speaks for me, too.
Apology accepted.
Posted by: Bubba | Jun 14, 2007 at 09:34 AM
Thanks, Bubba. Thanks, Anglico.
