After a lunch meeting at the new Chop House Grille on Pisgah Church, a friend and I were looking at the construction behind Koury's big project between Elm and Church Streets. He's married into an old Greensboro family, so I asked if he'd ever heard the name my father used for that neighborhood -- Hamtown.
"No, but I've heard of McAdoo Heights," he said, restoring his bona fides by using another fading neighborhood moniker.
Interesting how local place names come and go.

I was in Hamtown just today.

What a fun quiz that would be - name and ID the places that aren't anymore (What is the Bishop Block for $200, Alex?)
